Sleater-Kinney - The Hot Rock

  • £14.99

Sleater-Kinney's fourth album, The Hot Rock, was originally released in 1999 on Kill Rock Stars, and saw the band's sound become more intricate, spacious, and inventive, leaving room for Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein's vocals and guitars to play off each other, and Janet Weiss' drums balance everything in perfect plate-spinning style.

Recorded by Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tengo's producer of choice), the album song-writing broke with the band's previous trademark formula of impassioned and personal themes delivered through overdriven vocals and distorted guitar, and introduced a new trademark formula of artistic story-telling and counter melodies, and it is this drive for reinvention that would make Sleater-Kinney one of the most successful bands to come out of riot grrrl scene of the early-90's

This edition, remastered by Creg Calbi, was reissued, along with the band's other first seven albums, by Sub Pop in 2014.
