Odetta - The Essential Recordings

  • £5.99

Odetta, a classically-trained singer turned folk/blues musician, was an important figure in the folk music revival, as well as the progressive political culture, of the 'fifties and 'sixties. She was known as ‘The Voice of the Civil Rights Movement’, and Martin Luther King Jr. himself pronounced her ‘The Queen Of American Folk Music.’

The Essential Recordings is a double CD with over forty magisterial performances from the woman who was an influence on Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and whole host of folk musicians and singers that followed.
