Neil Young began his series of Official Bootleg live recordings, taken from his extensive archives, with the autumn 2021 release of Carnegie Hall 1970. Citizen Kane Jr. Blues, is one of three further instalments released in spring 2022, alongside Royce Hall, 1971, and Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, 1971.
Recorded on 16th May 1974 at a surprise solo acoustic set at The Bottom Line in New York City, following a concert by Ry Cooder, the album notably features songs that would be included on On The Beach, released a month later. The album title comes from Young introducing the opening song with that title; a song that later became 'Push It Over The End.'
Where the original analogue tape exists in Neil Young’s archive, these concerts have been mixed by Young and Niko Bolas, providing much higher quality recordings than have previously existed. The original bootleg artwork has also been replicated wherever possible. Citizen Kane Jr. Blues has been restored from the original bootleg recording and remastered to bring the best audio experience possible.
