Jeanines - Don't Wait For A Sign

New York's Jeanines follow their 2019 self-titled debut with another indie-pop tour-de-force that draws from a deep set of DIY influences. With the band now divided geographically, and touched by the isolation and uncertainty of the pandemic, 2022's Don't Wait For A Sign is deeper and a bit darker than their debut.
While the indie influences of bands such as Dear Nora, The Aislers Set are still clear, the folk influences on this album feel more pronounced, at times recalling early Fairport Convention or Vashti Bunyan. The thirteen songs on Don't Wait For A Sign brilliantly blend these timeless influences into distinctive songwriting that allows Alicia Jeanine's vocals to take flight.
